Baptisms by Skype
Celebrate News – August 23rd, 2012: Foursquare Camps have always been places where kids and youth encounter the Holy Spirit in powerful ways. At Camp Courtney, in the Southeast District, hundreds of boys and girls have given their lives to Jesus Christ over the past few years. In that time frame, pastors and leaders began teaching on water baptism and its importance in the life of each Believer, with hopes that these kids would go back home and pursue it in their local churches. With the parents’ and pastors’ permission, over 100 kids and youth have been water baptized at summer camp in the last two years.
This summer was a memorable one in particular. District Supervisor, Scott Reece, was unable to be at camp because his wife was nine months pregnant with their twin girls. In a breakout session at camp, their youngest son, Joseph, learned about water baptism. Though this wasn’t the first time he had heard about or seen a baptism take place, Joseph was ready to make an outward declaration of his inward decision to follow Christ. Camp Courtney then set up the camp baptism event on Skype for Pastor Scott and his wife, Michelle, to watch Joseph get baptized from hundreds of miles away. It was a special day, not only for Joseph and his parents, but also for the rest of the youth that made the decision to share their faith publicly!
Celebrate with us what the Holy Spirit has done in the lives of these kids and youth at Camp Courtney and what He has in store for them!!
